Studying Under The Masters For KIDS

For children, art isn’t about rules and critiques. Art for kids is about expression and creating and fun! Creating art with kids is like opening the most fantastic Pandora ’s Box of possibilities. You never know how they will express themselves through art. Going back years and years to some of the most beloved Masters of art is a great way to intrigue children about different forms of art, different styles and different mediums. When young people used to aspire to be artists, they would take on the apprenticeship role under Masters of art. I want your kids (and you!) to come along with me and become apprentices to some of art’s Masters!

Close To Home | A Watercolor Landscape Journey

I believe there is an artist and a desire to create inside all of us.  It’s that little push and a little guidance that might be just what you need to get you started or back on your art journey.  It’s all as close as your back door. We’ll explore sketching and watercolor supplies and set up a custom watercolor palette and travel sketch kit. We’ll review the elements and principles of art and revisit the color theory and create a beautiful color wheel using your choice of paint colors. Eventually all the techniques we learned will be put to the test.  We’ll start with simple shapes and work our way up to painting detailed but simple landscapes in our sketchbooks, learning tips and tricks along the way for creating skies, clouds, trees, grass and small details that make landscapes pop.

Letting Go: An Exploration of Abstract Painting

In this course, we will listen to our intuition to create expressive abstract paintings. We will explore mediums and techniques that lend themselves to letting go and embracing the process of creating. We will be playing with watercolors, inks, acrylics and even embroidery. We will explore mark making, line drawing, shape composition and color blending to create depth and interest. We will gather inspiration for innovative color palettes because abstracts are all about color. You can watch the course trailer HERE.

Children of the Wild

This course is filled with precious children and their friendships with animals. I created this class to share with you my love for animals and how they have enriched my life. There will be 4 complete painting demonstrations. Each painting has its own unique story. I really take mixed media art to a new level by using some very unusual applications. I combine watercolors, pan pastels, charcoal with gesso. I work with graphite, charcoal, watercolor and inks with linseed oil. On top of all this goodness I apply oil bars with a palette knife. You can watch the course trailer HERE.
